A Novel Electrode Front-End Face Design to Improve Geometric Accuracy in Electrical Discharge Machining Process

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is one of the important processes to produce mold components. When using EDM process, surface quality, processing time, accuracy, and electrode cost must be considered. The wear main factor that causes error on geometric especially workpiece corner. Therefore, this study proposes a novel design improve accuracy for process. Firstly, effect current, diameter, depth cut corner were investigated. Multiple regression analysis variant used analyze experiment data. end-face with compensation rule algorithm was established based data value. Furthermore, compensated system human machine interface, which has procedure guiding function, developed. can minimizing accuracy. Finally, cutting experiments conducted verify proposed method, results show method effectively enhance by around 22~37%.
